Nourish & Flourish is Backpack Buddies’ online marketplace: your one-stop-shop to choose items from our store you can donate to fill bags for hungry children across BC. Think of it as a food-drive, reimagined, where you can shop to donate products to Backpack Buddies from the safety and comfort of your own home.

Step 1: Learn
Learn more about childhood hunger in BC. One in eight households in BC have faced food insecurity in the past year. Children in these homes often don’t know where their next meal is coming from. This is most prevalent on weekends when school food programs are closed.
Step 2: Grow
Grow your understanding about how Backpack Buddies is bridging the weekend hunger gap by discreetly getting bags of food into the hands of hungry kids across our province every week. Each bag contains nine meals, snacks, drinks and produce to last the weekend and beyond.
Step 3: Give
Shop Nourish & Flourish, our online marketplace. Fill a bag of food to give to a child in need and we will use your donation to purchase kid-approved food to distribute in one of our 235 partner schools and communities across BC. Your donation of food is 100% tax-deductible through Backpack Buddies.

Growing children require regularly available food, but many B.C. families struggle to put food on the table every day. That’s why we help fill the weekend hunger gap - a time when children go without the support of school breakfast and lunch programs - by providing meals and snacks for the weekend directly to those who need them.
We recognize that a child who receives a bag of food from Backpack Buddies may not get anything else to eat all weekend, so our priority is to ensure the bags of food help our kids get through the weekend without going hungry. Every bag we pack costs $20 and includes nine meals and snacks to last the weekend and beyond.
Backpack Buddies is a registered Canadian charity based in North Vancouver, B.C. We work in communities across our province reaching over 5,000 children every week. In the 2022/23 we distributed over 160,000 bags of food to hungry kids across BC.
